SAZ101) is one of the most significant watches in Swatch history – the first Swatch with a genuine metal case and, to date, the only Swatch made of solid platinum. The model was produced in 1993 in a limited edition of 12,999 pieces and was first presented by Nicolas G. Hayek at the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange). It was launched at an official price of US$1,618 and sold out within a day. Collectors around the world camped outside stores for days to get their hands on one of the limited edition watches on October 10, 1993 (as did I). Today, the Swatch Trésor Magique Platinum is one of the most sought-after and valuable Swatch models ever made. The watch offered here bears the individual number 10,523, engraved on the rotor and identically noted on all documents and the outer packaging. The case is made of 40g of solid platinum (950/1000) and marked the beginning of the later famous Irony line. The platinum case measures 36.5 mm and offers an exceptional feel thanks to its total weight of approx. 63.8 g. The watch features a two-tone, semi-skeletonized dial with Roman numerals, golden Dauphine hands, and a striking luminous lollipop seconds hand. The sapphire crystal case back (still with its original protective film) reveals the automatic movement: a Swiss ETA 2840-p with a signed rotor and 23 jewels. This watch comes as a complete full set: – Cardboard sleeve with original steel box with mirror and acrylic insert (approx. 2.620 kg) – Blue leather strap with Swatch pin buckle – Second blue plastic strap – Strap changing tool – Original Swatch booklet – Numbered outer packaging Condition: The watch is first-hand, in mint condition and has never been worn. The watch has been stored in a drawer for over 30 years, and the white cardboard outer packaging therefore shows a few minimal signs of storage, as does the inside of the steel lid (slightly faded areas in the metal, see photos). Overall, however, the full set is in exceptionally good condition – a real collector's rarity. The Swatch Trésor Magique Platinum combines historic Swatch design, Swiss watchmaking, and genuine precious metal in an iconic piece from the 1990s.
