Seiko Prospex Divers 6105-8000

Description

Seiko 2nd Diver Ref. 6105-8000 VWS-3150

Here is a wonderful, all original Seiko 2^nd^ diver’s watch from 1968. The black dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and silver lettering. It has large lume filled steel hour markers, larger at the poles and a double chevron at 12 o’clock. Some degradation can be seen on some of the hour markers. The wide baton hands are in very fine condition. The seconds hand has the characteristic double lume with an arrow tip. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to time setting mode. Note that this model cannot be manually wound, it is solely wound by the automatic system. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial. The rotatable stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear. The very large stainless case with the original crown and embedded lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced along the edges of the case sides and at the upper left lug. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a few scratches and marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished. The watch comes on an after market rubber diver strap of good quality. Note that vintage diver’s watches are no longer suitable for diving! Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 6105A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning. This watch pre-dates its more famous sibling, the “Captain Willard”, but it’s clear where the design clues came from. The pictures really do not do this watch justice, it looks very fine indeed to the naked eye.
