Description
1976 Seiko 6306 Scubapro450 serial 001, Description: Those that have followed us through the years will now that we habve a soft spot for the 6306 double named Scubapro450’s made by Seiko. This one in particular is a bit extra special, read on. The authentic scubapros have distinct serif and coloring and appear within a certain serial range, all hallmarks exhibited by this example. The 6306 variant was a Japan domestic release watch that features both English and Japanese days. Co-branded with the diving tool company Scubapro, much like the “Comex” Stamp from Rolex. These dive watches are an affordable entry into something truly rare and special. In regards to this specific Scubapro, the serial dates this to the earliest Scubapro batch and number we have ever seen. Seiko during this period used a rudimentary way for dating their watches. The first digit, in this case “6” is the year in the 70’s in which the case was produced. The second digit denotes the month. The remaining digits show the number of production. This watch was produced in Aug of 1976 and concides with the earliest seen batches of Scubapro’s which start in the 2XXX range. The serial for this watch is 682001 so arguably it may be the first one ever made in the earliest batch. Dial: Excellent condition Scubapro stamped dial with correct 60 date stamp (oct 1976, as dials were typically mfg or fitted a few months after the case was stamped. Case: Excellent condition case that appears unpolished. Bracelet: Seiko rubber strap
