Rolex Submariner (No Date) James Bond 5508 c. 1959 Box

The Submariner 5508 was one of the very first Submariner models released by Rolex. Introduced in 1958, it was only produced for four short years, making them relatively rare. Unlike the more famous later models, it featured no crownguards as well as a smaller case and crown design. It's also known as the "James Bond" Submariner after a similar no-crownguard Submariner was featured on Sean Connery's wrist in all his films from Dr. No to Thunderball. When it was discontinued in 1962, the represented the end of the 38mm Submariner and a shift towards larger watch sizes. This rarity, combined with its legendary status as James Bond's first watch in the movies, makes it extremely collectible. Rolex's Submariner is to many the definitive wristwatch. From its origins as a diver's companion and James Bond's wristwatch, the Submariner has ingrained itself into popular culture like no watch before or since. Worn and loved by bankers, rappers and watch enthusiasts alike, the Submariner possibly the most culturally significant piece of horology ever. This doesn't mean it's all talk and no action though - the Submariner is iconic for a reason. Its water resistant Oyster case, highly legible Mercedes hands and timing bezel may have originated as practical functions, but they've come together to create a beautifully proportioned watch that appeals as much to the designer's eye as it does to the procurement officer's spec sheet.✅Authentic: All watches are authenticated and come with a letter of authenticity ↪️Returns: 14 day return available on all watches, we want you to be 100% happy! 📃Warranty: Unless otherwise stated, all watches bought through Chrono24 come with a 6 month warranty 📦Shipping: Fully-insured shipping to all corners of the world
