Vintage 1997 automatic Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch with gold-r
A stylish vintage 1997 automatic Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch with gold-raised 369, explorer-style, hour markers.
The watch features a 36-millimetre stainless-steel and 18k yellow gold case with the original brushed-steel, light-grey coloured dial. The hands are also made out of 18ct gold and the watch currently sits on an oyster bracelet. The watch is in superb condition and would be perfect for everyday wear.
The Rolex Datejust was first released in 1945 to commemorate the company’s 40th anniversary. The Datejust was the first self-winding waterproof wristwatch to display the date on its dial, and it changed the world of horology. This unique timepiece was housed in a beautiful 18-carat gold Oyster casing and included the groundbreaking Calibre 710 movement. In this particular model, the movement is gentrified to a 3130 Calibre movement.
In 1954, Rolex once again set the standard for luxury watches with the addition of the Cyclops lens. This small, convex magnifying lens was placed above the date window, enhancing the readability of the date by 2.5 times. The Cyclops lens has since become an unmistakable hallmark of the Datejust, and indeed, of Rolex itself.
Since 1992, there have been no major changes in design or mechanics for the Date-Just. The use of tritium on the dial markers have now been excluded and the eventual upgrade of inner bezel engraving in the late 2000s is the only significant change.
