Info The last plexiglass GMT produced still exudes all its charm despite its more than 40 years since its birth. Introduced by Rolex in the late 1970s to replace the 1675, the 16750 was produced for a few years and “discontinued” in 1988. The 16750, compared to its predecessor 1675, boasted some important “technical” innovations: a new caliber (3075), the 16750 is much more robust and reliable than the previous one and also it has the introduction of rapid date adjustment. From an “aesthetic” point of view, however, until about 1985, there weren’t many differences compared to the old 1675, in fact the 16750 continued to “fit” “matte” buckshot dials. Starting around 1985 (serial number 8.9xx.xxx) and until the end of production, the aesthetics also changed, with the adoption of the new glossy dials with WG surround markers. The watch for sale, with serial number 9.1xxx.xxx, is perfectly coeval with the year of production and has recently been overhauled at an authorized Rolex service centre. Only the clasp should be underlined, which with the year code R9 (year 1993) and engraved with the service letter “S”, appears to have been replaced in a previous Rolex service (presumably around 1993).
Case, Bracelet, Dial & Glass Excellent, like new, stainless steel case. Comes with an excellent fat font black bezel insert with clearly visible wear from use.
Excellent 78360 oyster bracelet, with 13 links (complete) 580 end link and S (service) R9 (ca. 1993) date stamp. Bracelet has very light stretch and some wear from use.
Excellent glossy WG surround dial with matching eggshell markers and hands on this particular GMT model.
Excellent plexiglass.
