Rolex GMT-Master 16710

Description

Rolex GMT-Master II

This Rolex GMT-Master II is offered in the UK by a private seller. A neo-vintage example of Rolex's iconic travel watch. The serial number suggests this example was produced in 1991. Presented with a spare link only - the original display box and warranty papers are not included. The vendor confirms the watch to be in good working order. Introduced in 1989, the Rolex GMT-Master II reference 16710 enjoyed a production run of almost 20 years until it was phased out in 2007. It is considered the last classically proportioned GMT-Master II thanks its more refined and wearable 40mm case compared to more contemporary references. It was also the last GMT-Master II to have an aluminium bezel insert; representing the end of an era for the more traditionally styled Rolex sports watches. This example is paired with an all-black bezel insert, offering a level of versatility not seen in the bi-colour alternatives of other GMTs. With its design catering for trans-atlantic pilots, the watch’s GMT hand and 24-hour scale bezel allow the wearer to track multiple time zones simultaneously. Beneath the screw-down rear casing beats Rolex’s calibre 3185, a chronometer-certified movement with a 48-hour power reserve. The screw-down crown and Oyster case affords the watch with 100 metres of water resistance. The watch is paired with a satin finished Oyster bracelet.
