Introduced as the first self-winding Daytona in 1988, it marked the most significant evolution in the 60 years-history of the revered chronograph. Thirty five years later, its influence is still very present in the current model. The watch was produced in stainless steel, yellow gold and two-tone. In 1992, a gold version on leather strap was introduced (ref. 16518) followed by the white gold model (ref. 16519) in 1997. Over its twelve years of production, the model went through several evolution, most noticeably its dial. The present lot is a 'T-series' from 1996 and is beautifully complemented its Mark IV dial, matching the serial number of the case. The current Reference 16528 example is the perfect watch to wear on any occasion. It has a very strong sport character with its yellow gold case housing a black dial with champagne subsidiary counters echoing the precious metal and the indexes, hence creating a most attractive black and gilt colour-scheme of the watch.
