The 1994 Rolex Daytona, often referred to as the 'Zenith Daytona,' represents a significant era in the history of Rolex chronographs. Produced between 1988 and 2000, this model features a self-winding chronograph movement based on the Zenith El Primero, modified extensively by Rolex to meet its durability and precision standards. The 16523 combines a stainless steel case with an 18K yellow gold bezel, pushers, and crown, creating a distinctive two-tone aesthetic characteristic of the "Rolesor" design. The 40mm Oyster case is fitted with a fixed gold tachymeter bezel, designed for measuring average speeds, and houses a white dial with applied gold hour markers and contrasting subdials. The chronograph layout includes a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 6, and running seconds at 9, providing classic balance and legibility.
