Both models were the last Daytona’s to be produced with ‘pump’ chronograph pusher, but they did feature the newer, uprated caliber 727 movement with an increased vibrations per hour rate of 21,6000 from 18,000. The sole distinguishing feature between the two watches is the acrylic bezel found on the 6264 whereas the 6262 wore a steel bezel. During its short production period, it is believed that less than 1,700 examples of a 6264 in stainless steel were ever made. The owner of this timepiece was a Dentist from a small town in the Midwest. He came from a very poor family that financially struggled throughout his childhood. The owner paid for his own way through college by parking cars and working side jobs at night. He continued to work hard and made his own way through dental school. After 12 years of working as a Dentist, the owner was able to purchase his first Rolex in 1970 – the present reference 6264. This watch was his trustworthy everyday watch while practicing his craft. He would also enjoy wearing this watch while flying his private airplanes, hunting with his buddies and working on his investment properties. The Rolex 6264 represents success from years of hard work and dedication.
