The reference 1518 from Patek Philippe, the first wristwatch with a perpetual calendar to be manufactured in series by a watch company, was launched in 1941 and only 281 examples were manufactured until 1954.
The 1518 was a design premiere which, with its basic layout - a calendar window at 12, two sub-dials at 9 and 3 and a moon phase at 6 - formed the template for all its "descendants". The rectangular pushers, the attractive aesthetics of the 1950s and the beautiful dial with tachymeter scale make this watch the first choice for discerning collectors today.
