The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. All functions are working properly. The minute repeating is in phase and chimes with a loud and clear tone. The watch is in like new condition.
Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts.
You are advised that watch straps or bands made of materials derived from endangered or otherwise protected species (i.e. alligator or crocodile) are not sold with the watch and we reserve the right to remove these straps or bands prior to shipping. Furthermore, the watch may not come with its original manufacturers strap or band.

We reserve the right to remove these bands prior to shipping. " Two of the most prestigious complications in the watch industry are the minute repeater and the perpetual calendar, with the former able to tell the time displayed on the dial by chiming it using internal gongs, and the latter knowing the exact amounts of days in each month, including leap years, therefore in theory being able to tell the correct date for perpetuity. These complications are extremely difficult to create and require an immense amount of components, and due to this complexity both of these horological marvels are naturally associated with the greatest watch manufacturer in the world, Patek Philippe.
The combination of perpetual calendar and minute repeater has been done before by the maison, but the brand experimented with a completely new execution of a wristwatch containing these complications in 2006 with the reference 5104. In complete contrast to repeaters of old which were classically styled and proportioned, the new reference featured a hulking 43 mm two-tone platinum and pink gold case along with an avant-garde semi-skeletonised dial, never before seen on a grand complication. To combat legibility issues which have often plagued skeletonised dials while still allowing the view of the inner workings to remain unobstructed, the day, month and year markings are printed on transparent sapphire discs with white text, while a black backdrop rotates around each disc to contrast the text above and convey the information. The date is displayed on a huge central retrograde arm pointing to the bottom half of the dial.
The case bands and lugs are all decorated with beautiful hollowed inlays further adding a regal charm to the watch, and the expertly decorated micro-rotor caliber is visible through the sapphire case back and comprises an impressive 515 components. With loud, clear and whole acoustics, this repeater is nothing short of a spectacle and today is one of the most prized grand complications of Patek Philippe.
Complete with all original accessories, the watch is offered in close to new condition.
