Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/1A

Description

Patek Philippe Nautilus Flyback Chronograph

Introduced in 2006, the reference 5980/1A was released alongside several other Nautilus models to commemorate 30 years of one of the world’s most sought-after luxury sports watches. The 5980 was the first Nautilus to feature a chronograph complication. Following its discontinuation in 2014, the ref. 5980/1A has become highly collectable and is viewed by many collectors as the ultimate representation of Patek Philippe’s iconic timepiece. The distinctive 40.5mm Gérald Genta-designed octagonal case and integrated bracelet are both crafted from intricately-finished brushed and polished stainless steel. Replacing double or triple chronograph subdials is a single “mono-counter” at six o’clock, neatly displaying timing in one register. Beneath the transparent sapphire caseback beats Patek Philippe’s calibre CH 28-520, an automatic movement with a 55-hour power reserve. This movement was Patek Philippe’s first in-house-developed self-winding chronograph, and comes finished with a solid 21K gold rotor engraved with the brand’s iconic Calatrava Cross.
