Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch 'First Omega in Space' Numbered Edition
We are proud to introduce this Omega Speedmaster `FOIS` Numbered Edition watch for sale in fine condition.
The Omega Speedmaster stands as an iconic timepiece with a rich heritage and an enduring legacy in the realm of horology. Renowned as the "Moonwatch," the Speedmaster achieved global fame for being the first watch worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. However, prior to this accolade a Speedmaster CK2998 released in 1959 was worn by astronaut Wally Schirra in 1962 as he orbited the earth during the "Sigma 7" mission, successfully becoming the "First Omega in Space" and the inspiration for this particular numbered edition of the Speedmaster.
First launched in 2012 and produced until 2020, this special iteration of the Speedmaster comes set in a more compact 39.7mm stainless steel case fitted with a black tachymètre scale bezel. Its black 3 register dial features a contrasting minute track as well as luminous hour indexes and matching `alpha hands` plated in rhodium to prevent tarnishing. These details are protected by a raised sapphire crystal which mimics the original plexi-glass crystal of the original Speedmaster CK2998. Powering the watch is the manual wind calibre 1861 chronograph mechanism, and protected by an embossed commemorative caseback featuring the iconic Omega Hippocampus logo. Lastly, this numbered edition is completed by a supple brown calf leather strap with cream stitching and a polished Omega pin buckle.
Originally sold in July 2021 and in fine condition with very minor wear present on the case, supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet, grey leatherette, unworn Omega orange/black Nato strap, pictogram and international warranty cards.
This Omega benefits from he coverage of its manufacturer 5-year warranty until July 2026.
