Ming 27.02 Ultra Thin
Mings meteoric rise from micro-brand to fully-fledged independent powerhouse has been swift, and in our opinion well deserved. Their aesthetic is unlike any other, and provide a range of pieces from the quite affordable through to the recent run of higher end pieces, one of those being the piece we have here.
Released in 2021, the 27.02 is an evolution of the 27.01, which in-turn is an evolution of the first piece released by Ming, the 17.01. The 38mm case remains, but now measures in at a scant 6.9mm thick and has been lightened internally. This thinness comes from the use of a new-to-the-company ETA/Peseaux 7001 movement, that has been reworked by Shwarz-Etienne to Ming's own design, with only the original gear-train and escapement remaining.
The 27.02 builds on the 27.01 with the addition of a sapphire dial, featuring a blue Clous-de-Paris guilloche ring around the periphery of the movement. The markers are etched into the topside of the dial, while a gradient was added to the underside, causing the markers to appear to float over the dial. The 27.02 combines an avante-garde aesthetic with traditional watchmaking like few others can.
It comes mounted to Ming's awesome universal steel bracelet, perfect for the warmer months, and also includes an OEM stunning handmade strap by Jean Rousseau Paris.
This particular piece was delivered in December 2021, and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. Has been worn regularly, and the bezel and lugs show scratches and scuffs commensurate with this use. There's also a few minor nicks present on the bezel and lower right lug, which is the reason for the 'Good' rather than 'Very Good' grading according to the TZ scale. The bracelet shows desk diving marks throughout, and includes all links. The Jean Rousseau OEM strap presents as-new.
