On the inside bottom is the coat of arms of the United Kingdom of Great Britain with the words "Dieu et mon droit" (French for God and my right) and "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Old French for being ashamed of those who think badly about it). Especially the 2nd saying was adapted in many languages. An analogous German translation reads: "A rogue who thinks evil of it".
