IWC – Vintage 1935 Cushion Steel Watch – Cal. 63-12

Brand: IWC This 1935 IWC wristwatch ia part the Schaffhausen manufacture’s transition from pocket watches to wristwatch production. The manually-wound caliber 63 is part of IWC’s technical adaptation of established pocket watch movements for wrist use The caliber 63 first appeared in IWC’s Catalogue des Fournitures No. 1 from 1891 to 1892, originally developed for ladies pendant watches. The movement measures 12 lignes diameter, approximately 27mm, and it was the smallest movements IWC manufactured. Until 1915, all IWC wristwatches employed either caliber 63 Lépine or caliber 64 savonnette movements, as these constituted the only appropriate sizes before the introduction of smaller 10-ligne calibers 75 and 76. IWC typically omitted the seconds indication entirely in caliber 63 wristwatches, producing clean two-hand dials. The caliber 63 operates at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour with Breguet overcoil balance spring providing superior isochronism. The stainless steel cushion-shaped case measures 30mm diameter excluding the crown. Steel cases from this period are less common than precious metal ones. The pressure-fit caseback closes tight and the case is in an excellent condition showing only light traces of use. The original silvered dial displays smaller oxidations consistent with natural patina development. The plexy crystal is perfect and this watch si also fitted with a new / vintage . The watch has been fully serviced and it is delivered with our six-month guarantee and originality certificate. International buyers are welcome, we ship to most countries
