Launched and developed in 1985 over the decision of Kurt Klaus, then head watchmaker of IWC, the movement for the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar was made up of only around 80 components, an extremely small number compared to other perpetual watches on the market. Furthermore, all the calendar settings could be made via the winding crown. Ingenious and innovative at the same time, the module of this caliber became the best-selling perpetual calendar mechanism, not only in the Da Vinci collection, but also in other IWC collections. The watch presented in the catalogue, in addition to having its complete set, has never been worn as it comes from an old stock of watches.
