It is preserved in close to new condition and sold with the full set of accessories. Launched in 2006, the “Horizon” was designed by Marc Newson, considered one of the most influential designers of his generation and co-founder of Ikepod. The model was made in a limited edition of 66 examples each in 18K pink gold, platinum and titanium. Like many of Marc Newson’s creations, the Horizon wristwatch refers to the “event horizon” in astrophysics, the edge of a “black hole” and the moment when gravity becomes infinite, when both time and space disappear. Its reference to the mathematical end of time and space underscores the poetry and fleeting nature of timekeeping itself. The unique dial creates an optical illusion of appearing convex, thereby emphasizing the three-dimensional volume of the case.
