Defined by smooth organic case shapes and highly unconventional aesthetics, Ikepod watches stood apart dramatically from the traditional Swiss watch industry of the era. The Hemipode collection became one of the brand’s signature chronograph lines, combining futuristic styling with serious mechanical complications. The example offered here, the Hemipode Rattrapante Chronograph ref. HR01, is among the rarest models produced by the brand, featuring a split-seconds chronograph complication built upon a modified Valjoux 7750 movement. Produced in an exceptionally limited edition of just 99 pieces, the model represents the pinnacle of Ikepod’s early mechanical experimentation and remains one of the most collectible watches from the Marc Newson era. ## Grade M 9 ## Status Vetted & Approved ## Included Box and blank warranty ## Est. value range $4,000 – $6,000 ### The Details #### Brand Ikepod #### Dimensions 44mm #### Model Hemipode Rattrapante Chronograph #### Movement Modified Valjoux 7750 split-seconds chronograph movement #### Reference HR01 #### Bracelet Original stainless steel bracelet #### Year 1990s #### Condition Near mint #### Material Stainless steel #### Included Original “pill” box, warranty card, hang tag, and 4 extra links #### Dial Color Black #### THE DIAL The dial embraces Ikepod’s futuristic industrial aesthetic with a highly technical chronograph layout and bold graphic detailing. The split-seconds functionality adds further visual complexity to the display, while the printed edition number reinforces the exclusivity of this rare limited-production model. THE CONSTRUCTION The 44mm stainless steel case reflects the flowing organic forms and smooth integrated design language that became signatures of Marc Newson’s watchmaking work. TIMING MACHINE READOUT This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information. ## Condition Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case shows light surface scratches and signs of careful wear, while the enamel on the pushers remains fully intact and the engravings remain crisp. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a bracelet showing light surface marks. The bracelet is fitted with 24 links, 6 of which are removable, and fits approximately a 7” wrist. Additionally, there are 4 links included. Comes complete with the original “pill” box, blank warranty card, and hangtag. ## Our Perspective The “designer's designer,” Marc Newson founded Ikepod in 1994, and after being resurrected (for the second time), it’s getting well-deserved recognition for its impact on the industry. The Hemipode Rattrapante Chronograph, with the split-seconds function, is an extremely rare model with a small edition size of just 99. These caused quite a fuss when they came out in the early 2000s. Patrick Parrish Collector
