A RARE GENTLEMAN'S STAINLESS STEEL HEUER AUTAVIA CHRONOGRAPH WRIST WATCH CIRCA 1970, REF. 7763CMovement: 17J, manual wind, Valjoux cal. 7730, signed Heuer-Leonidas SA. Case: Diameter approx. 41mm, compressor type, signed Heuer-Leonidas SA, signed Heuer Autavia on case back, numbered, MH rotating bezel faded to blue, Heuer crown.Strap: NATO. The watch was owned and worn by Adrian Flanagan (consignor), the first yachtsman to single-handedly circumnavigate "vertically" around the globe, starting his voyage on the 28th October 2005 and returning on the 21st May 2008 escorted by Royal Navy warships. The route took him down the Atlantic and around Cape Horn, through the Pacific Ocean onto the Bering Strait and along the Russian Arctic coast. Adrian has written a book “Over The Top”, which documents his trip and talks about the Heuer he bought many years prior to his dream voyage. A copy of the book will accompany the watch which describes all the trials and tribulations of the journey, which was as political as it was physically and mentally demanding.
