Hamilton - Military Issued W10-6645-99 - Cushion Cased Watch - Issued 1972

A Vintage Military Hamilton W10 Cushion Case Field Style Dating to 1972 Case Stainless Steel Condition 9/10 Year 1972 Box/Papers No/No Hamilton Watch Company has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The company was originally established as the Lancaster Watch Company in 1892. In 1893, it became the Hamilton Watch Company after it was purchased by a group of investors. Hamilton quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality pocket watches, which were highly sought after in the industry. During World War I, Hamilton played a crucial role by providing precision timepieces to the military. The company transitioned from pocket watches to wristwatches during this period. In World War II, Hamilton became a primary supplier of timepieces to the U.S. military, producing the iconic Hamilton Marine Chronometer and various military watches. What's on Offer Here is a nice, military Hamilton W10 which was likely first issued to a British soldier in 1972. The dial and general condition of this watch are what make this piece stand out. Surprisingly for an issued military watch it is in good condition, it sits against a solid black backdrop with a white track around the perimeter. All print is complete and fully readable. The original lume has discolored to a pale orange which is completely normal over long periods, it also adds a nice vintage aesthetic. The cushion shape case with fixed lug bars is finished in brushed steel adding a tactical tool watch style to the design. Minor scratches can be seen but it's overall in excellent condition to say its original purpose was to be on the wrist of a soldier in the field. The case back has the original military engravings and issue numbers which also denote the year it was issued to the military. Paired with a black NATO-style strap this watch is an excellent nod to the 1970s military outfit and it would be a great addition to any collection.
