Journe launched his namesake brand at the turn of the millennium, introducing the Tourbillon Souverain in 1999 and following it with the Chronomètre à Résonance a year later. From the outset, his work stood apart for its technical originality and uncompromising craftsmanship, earning a place among the most desirable and scarce timepieces in contemporary horology. A decade later, in 2011, Journe expanded his vision with the introduction of the “lineSport” collection, an ambitious take on the modern sports watch, executed to the same rigorous standards as his classical pieces. At the forefront was the Centigraphe Sport, a truly pioneering watch recognised as the first mechanical chronograph made entirely of aluminum, from the case and bracelet to the movement itself. Inside, an in-house manually wound chronograph allows measurements down to 1/100th of a second. When engaged, the hand at 10 o’clock, regulated directly by the escapement, circles the dial once per second; when stopped, it halts instantly, enabling highly precise fractional readings. The watch is driven by the refined caliber 1506 and incorporates a cleverly engineered rocker-style control for starting, stopping, and resetting the chronograph. This ergonomic system allows the wearer to maintain finger position while operating the mechanism, improving both stability and accuracy. The original aluminum version was later replaced by a titanium model in 2014 before the introduction of the more opulent pink gold edition in 2019. Rendered in pink gold, this iteration brings a distinctly luxurious character to the technically focused design. The case features a subtly textured, hammered finish, complemented by a substantial matching bracelet. Vivid red subsidiary dials provide a bold contrast, while the chronograph is actuated via the integrated rocker along the case side. Designed with motorsport timing in mind, it combines exceptional legibility with remarkable mechanical performance. As a key evolution within the lineSport series, the pink gold Centigraphe Souverain stands as an important chapter in Journe’s body of work and an excellent opportunity to acquire a watch that seamlessly blends innovation, rarity and refined execution.
