Notes: This is a rare and historically significant early Cartier Tank Normale, produced in Paris during the late 1920s to 1930s — one of the original rectangular models from the iconic Tank collection introduced by Louis Cartier in 1917. Inspired by the silhouette of the military tanks of the First World War, the Tank Normale quickly became a symbol of modern Art Deco elegance and timeless sophistication. This particular example embodies the purest expression of the design: a refined 18K yellow gold rectangular case with integrated lugs, a silvery-white dial featuring black Roman numerals, blued steel hands, and the distinctive “CARTIER” and “FRANCE” signature on the dial. The sapphire cabochon crown adds the signature Cartier refinement. The movement is a high-grade «Cartier Paris» manual-wind caliber, engraved with “19 NINETEEN JEWELS” and “8 EIGHT ADJUSTMENTS,” typical of the finest early production pieces. Case and movement numbers are consistent with authentic 1920s Cartier numbering practices.
