The dial itself is very rare in this gorgeous blue colour with two subsidiary dials which display constant seconds to the left whilst, to the right, a 45-minute counter registers minutes whilst the chronograph is running. The chronograph hand really has a striking appearance in red, finishing off the great look of this timepiece. The case itself is gold plated and I am happy to report no wearing of the gold here –it certainly is in good shape. The watch comes on a very lightly worn dark blue hand made strap which (if memory serves me well) is genuine Gecko with signed gilt buckle. A Breitling storage/travel box is also provided in very good condition. Summary: Valjoux caliber 7730 manually wound movement, lever escapement, 17 jewels, mono-metallic balance, 18,000 v.p.h. rare blue dial, applied gilded baton hour indexes, two engine-turned subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 45-minute register, minute track combined with calibrations for chronograph seconds, white outer tachymeter scale, gold plated upper case, steel back case, dial, movement and crown signed. Measurements: Diameter: 36.2 mm (excluding crown), length including lugs: 43mm, depth to centre of crystal: 12mm. It goes without saying that the watch is running accurately but its power reserve at present is about 20 hours. It may benefit from just a new mainspring or you may wish to consider a service. I have adjusted my asking price accordingly to compensate. The chronograph has no issues at all but I have no history/papers. Breitling during the 1960’s issued the Top Time model offering a variety of dial colours initially. Most examples today will have a black, white or silver dial making this original blue dial example very rare indeed. Unfortunately, I am unable to remove the case-back to show the movement. I am not a watchmaker and I certainly do not wish to cause damage by forcing it –I’s best left to a professional! Apologies. This is a real gem and one not to be missed!
