First launched in 1952, Breitling’s legendary Navitimer comfortably pre-dates other famous chronographs like the Rolex Daytona and Omega Speedmaster. This particular reference, the 806, was the first-generation model and was manufactured through to the 1960s, shortly before the industry’s big breakthrough in figuring out a way to combine a chronograph with an automatic movement. It was therefore equipped with highly dependable manual wind movements by either Valjoux or Venus, also used by many rival brands. The dial features the double airplane logo, rather than the more famous winged logo. It’s the same reference worn by jazz musician Miles Davis, as well as one of James Bond’s adversaries in the 1965 film Thunderball. This remarkable vintage watch is in great condition for its age. This Breitling Old Navitimer 806 has a black baton dial and a leather strap. Due to age, this Breitling may not fall within our typical expected tolerances for timekeeping, and is no longer suitable for use in wet environments or submersion in water. In the interests of preserving original features, utmost care has been taken to sympathetically restore this watch.
