Based on the serial numbered it was manufactured in 1945. Breitling’s history is rooted in aviation instrumentation and pilot`s chronographs, The Premier line, introduced in 1943, served as Breitling’s elegant chronograph offering, positioning the brand`s shift towards more refined timepieces, while retaining Breitling’s technical precision. Reference 790 belongs to the “waterproof-style” case design with a screwed caseback and round chronograph pushers for improved moisture resistance. The 18kt, red gold case measures 35.3mm excluding the original crown, and it is in an excellent untouched condition, the caseback has the correct reference and serial number, and it shows only very light traces of use. The plexiglass crystal is in excellent condition. The original silvered dial has the two-register chronograph layout with 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and running seconds at 9 o’clock. The “Breitling Premier” signature remains clearly legible. The dial has a very light and even patina consistent with age while maintaining excellent contrast between indications and background, and it has only light traces of use. At its core, the watch houses the manual-winding Breitling / Venus Cal. 150 movement, a 13- ligne column-wheel chronograph caliber introduced in 1938. This 17 jewels movement operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour, and provides a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The Venus 150 is known for its reliability and precision, making it a preferred choice for chronographs during the 1940s and 1950s. This watch is complete with a new croco strap.
