The inverted panda dial is in very fine condition, with two white subdials on a black background and very few marks of age or wear. It has a large lume Arabic numeral hour marker at 12 o’clock and lume stripes for the other hours. There is a multitude of scales around the edge of the dial, including a slide rule, tachymeter, minute to hour conversion and a solar compass function. The subdial at 3 o’clock shows the chronograph minute counter and the 9 o’clock subdial shows the running seconds. The white baton hands with the original lume are in very fine condition. The orange central seconds hand shows the chronograph seconds when activated. The window at 6 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by turning the hands through midnight so the date changes and then immediately turn the hands backwards to about 20:30 and then through midnight again so the date changes. Repeat as necessary. The black stainless steel bezel rotates freely in both directions and can be used for various calculations in conjunction with the dial scales. It is in fine condition with some overall wear. The very large and angular stainless steel case with stub lugs and the original crown at 9 o’clock has the two original chronograph pushers and is in fine condition, with some wear both at the lugs and the case sides. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a brushed finish and just a few marks. The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality. Inside the watch, the high grade Caliber 11 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning. The Chrono-matic version of the Navitimer was the first automatic chronograph Breitling ever made, and this massively large reference is very imposing on the wrist. This is a watch that will start a lot of fun conversations with fellow watch enthusiasts.
