Description

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 4100BA c. 1980

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 4100 was the first midsize model in the Royal Oak family, being first released in 1977. It was also the very first reference to feature the now-ubiquitous centre seconds hand, and was aimed at markets where the "Jumbo" was considered to be too large. Like the Jumbo, it features the iconic "petit tapisserie" dial and a "straight line" logo. The story of Audemars Piguet is, in many ways, the story of the Royal Oak. Upon its release in 1972, it shocked observers across the industry with its high price tag and stainless steel construction. It was, however, unlike any other watch ever created. The integrated bracelet was given the same attention as the movement - something that was completely unheard of. The "petite tapisserie" dial was also a nod to traditional guilloche techniques, but rendered in a thoroughly modern form. This new watch costed 10 times more than what a Rolex were charging for a Submariner at the time. No longer were steel watches to be seen as practical tools, but as objects of luxury. This radical new approach changed the landscape of the industry, and changed the public perception of Swiss wristwatches. Coming at a time of great disturbance within the Swiss watch industry, this was a much-needed restructuring which arguably saved the industry.✅Authentic: All watches are authenticated and come with a letter of authenticity ↪️Returns: 14 day return available on all watches, we want you to be 100% happy! 📃Warranty: Unless otherwise stated, all watches bought through Chrono24 come with a 6 month warranty 📦Shipping: Fully-insured shipping to all corners of the worldAudemars Piguet Royal Oak 4100BA c. 1980 $ 28,710 Basic Info Listing code KBQR32 Brand Audemars Piguet Model Royal Oak Reference number 4100BA Dealer product code SD051643 Movement Automatic Case material Yellow gold Year of production 1980 Condition Used: Moderate signs of wear The item shows visible and tangible signs of wear like scratches, scuffs, or small dents.
