The company had to come with a bold, solid stainless sports steel luxury watch, they gave the mission to Gerald Genta to design it. He got the inspiration from a deep-sea-diving helmet, the result was an octagonal bezel, visible mounting screws, a large case of 39mm with an integrated bracelet, a very futuristic design for the seventies. Within 2-3 years they sold about 1000 watches establishing a new segment within the industry and pioneered the popularity and desirability of the steel sports luxury watch. – In 1993 the standard Royal Oak being already 20 years old, the brand looking for a younger generation clientele came with a very polarised design, people in the industry calling it “The Beast”. The shocking 42mm for that time, with apparent rubber seal on the bezel, the rubber pushers were in contrast to the elegant Royal Oak but the Offshore turned out to be a great success. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 26420CE.OO.A127CR.01 is celebrated as a masterpiece of horological craftsmanship. This timepiece is designed with a focus on luxury and precision, reflecting the brand’s commitment to excellence. The case of the watch is made from ceramic and measures 43mm in diameter. The octagonal bezel is secured by eight screws and has a brushed finish that contrasts with the polished edges of the case. The sapphire crystal caseback allows for a view of the self-winding mechanical movement, which has a power reserve of up to 60 hours. The watch is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters, making it suitable for swimming and snorkeling. The dial of the watch is a striking black and features a “Méga Tapisserie” pattern that adds depth and texture to the watch face. The rose gold hour markers and hands are coated with luminescent material, making them easy to read in low-light conditions. The chronograph sub-dials are positioned at the 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions and feature rose gold numerals on a black background. The watch is powered by the Caliber 3126/3840 movement, which is a reliable and accurate movement that is used in many of Audemars Piguet’s watches. The movement has a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and features a chronograph function, a date display, and a stop-seconds function. The Audemars Piguet 26420RO.OO.A002CA.01 is fitted with a black rubber strap that is integrated into the case and features a rose gold pin buckle. The strap is comfortable to wear and adds to the overall sporty look of the watch. Audemars Piguet
