Audemars Piguet's reference 4100 is for the 5402 what Patek Philippe's reference 3800 is for the 3700: a more-wearable version of an iconic watch. During the '70s, alongside AP's production of the iconic Royal Oak, a reduced-sized version of this watch was launched. While it just measures 36 mm it doesn't compromise anything and maintains a very good wrist presence: it's exactly the same watch with the same robust and bold, yet elegant and sophisticated design in a 3 mm smaller version.
This 4100 has the Ivory 'petite tapisserie' dial with an applied logo and 18k yellow-gold applied markers. The 18k yellow-gold case and octagonal bezel with yellow-gold screws are in good condition maintaining the sharp edges. Thanks to the thin calibre 2123 the thickness of the case is just 8 mm, which makes it paired with the integrated bracelet a very elegant watch that fits neatly on the wrist. This piece belongs to one of the early B serials as it dates to the late 1970s. Not long thereafter, the reference 4100 was succeeded by the 14790.
4100 — Originally powered by an automatic 2123 caliber derived from 888 caliber by Jaeger Lecoultre.
