Launched in 1953, the same year that saw the introduction of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and the Rolex Submariner, the Sea Wolf was a great success for the Swiss company Zodiac. Setting it apart from its competitors, it was offered in a variety of interesting designs and colors. The Sea Wolf featured the caliber 70-72 automatic movement, a collaboration between ETA and A. Schild. The first-generation model came with a metal bezel, while the second-generation model, like the present watch, switched to an acrylic bezel. This particular model, reference 722-946, has a nicely preserved stainless steel case with perfectly legible engravings on the back and features a light blue/grey Bakelite bezel. The black dial has applied baton markers, with triangle indexes at 6, 9, and 12 showing Arabic numerals inside. At 3 o’clock, there is a date window, while the hands, which have luminous material, have aged similarly to the indexes. Sporty and vibrant, this watch is very interesting for enthusiasts of diving watches. 59
