Zenith 213E985

Description

c1970 Zenith Manual Wind

With the Zenith branded NSA bracelet still fitted, this Zenith is a classic look that can be changed easily. Model reference 213E985. HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH? From the model number type on the case back we know this case was made before 1970, and from the movement we know it couldn’t be before 1970 which was the launch year for this movement design, which gives us a very narrow window – this watch must have been made in 1970 or very soon after. CONDITION The movement is signed Movado, calibre 2562, which may sound odd at first. But between 1969 and 1983 Zenith and Movado (as well as Mondia) worked together. You will find Movado watches with the Zenith El Primero movement, and Zenith watches with Movado movements. Usually they are rebadged to match the dial, but on this early collaboration piece still carries the full Movado movement markings. The case is 20 micron gold plated with a gold filled bezel – which is much thinker and more resistant to wear. The case back has a long service engraving, and some NATO rash, so maybe the bracelet was swapped off at some time (which would also explain why the bracelet still looks so good). The bracelet was made by NSA for Zenith, and has the Zenith sprung clasp still. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The dial all looks original and has just very small marks. SIZE Width with crown 37.8 mm Width without crown 36.1 mm Between lugs 18 mm Lug to lug length 42.3 mm Case Thickness 9.8 mm Bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of 195 mm. The bracelet can be sized for you if you give us your wrist size when placing the order. All sizes are approximate. The watch is photographed on a wrist of 190mm/7.5 inches.
