Brand: Zenith This 1990s Zenith Ref. 01.0480.450 waterproof-style watch bears the emblem of Club Italia Lamborghini, the official Lamborghini owners club founded in 1993 by rally champion Sandro Munari. Munari, who secured the 1977 FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers and four consecutive Monte Carlo Rally victories (1972, 1975-1977) driving Lancia models, served as Lamborghini’s public relations director and test driver during the 1990s. The club, initially presided over by Dr. Daniele Onnis with headquarters at Via Modena 12 in Sant’Agata Bolognese directly within Lamborghini’s factory premises, united Italian supercar enthusiasts during the marque’s renaissance under Chrysler and subsequent Megatech ownership. This part is part of a limited edition manufactured by Zenith and made available for the club members The stainless steel case with screw-in caseback measures 34.5mm diameter excluding the coriginal rown and has the correct Zenith signatures and numbering. The case is in a near-new condition and still has most of it factory protective skins. The original silvered dial is in a perfect condition, it has no oxidation or time-related patina, ithas the Lamborghini logo at 6 o’clock with “Club Italia” below, and central seconds. The manually-wound caliber 45.0, derived from ETA base movements modified by Zenith according to 1970s production standards, keeps accurate time. The plexyglass is perfect. A new leather strap completes the watch. This watch represents the intersection of Swiss horology and Italian automotive passion during an era when Lamborghini transitioned from founder Ferruccio Lamborghini’s original vision through multiple ownership changes before Audi’s 1998 acquisition stabilized the company.
