COMMENT

COMMENT
Founded in 1948, "Yema," a French watchmaker, may have entered the scene later than others, but it has made significant strides in producing advanced sports watches tailored for professionals, including racers and divers. The Rally model, a chronograph watch developed for racing enthusiasts, was also produced by other manufacturers like Le Jour. This particular piece dates back to the mid-1960s, representing the first generation of this model. The stainless steel case features a black tachymeter bezel. The waterproof and user-friendly crown exhibits distinctive originality. The circular chronograph pushers and the screw-back case are essential features indicating the high-performance standards of top sports watches of that era, such as the Speedmaster and Rolex Daytona. The classic racing dial is accentuated with two red stripes. The watch houses the highly regarded Valjoux 7730 movement.
The case maintains a substantial and well-proportioned profile without visible signs of wear. The seamless form from the lugs to the case side is aesthetically pleasing. A special aspect of this piece is the bezel. The original black color has faded to a light blue through a unique aging process. The matching with the dial color is remarkable, displaying a calculated and harmonious color scheme. The dial shows no noticeable damage, and while there's aging on the hands, it's uniform and not overly distracting. Equipped with rare original parts, including the bezel and crown, this watch remains true to its original state.
It is widely believed that Mario Andretti wore the Yema Rally during his historic victory at the 1969 Indianapolis, making it an iconic model that delights both chronograph collectors and automobile enthusiasts.
