NO HH41014 CASE 3610178 PIERRE ARPELS CIRCA 2012 white gold, alligator ,
• cal. M61 manual winding movement • white lacquer dial with honeycomb motif, applied white gold Roman numerals and black painted indexes • 18k white gold case, diamond set crown, screw down case back secured by six screws • case, dial, and movement signed • with a white gold Van Cleef and Arpels buckle, Accompanied by a Van Cleef & Arpels International Certificate of Authenticity booklet dated May 23, 2012, together with a VC&A Timepieces book dated 2013, a Pierre Arpels booklet, one travelling case, and a presentation box with outer packaging. In 1949, Pierre Arpels designed a refined, sophisticated men's dress watch for personal use. His design grew so popular as friends and colleagues observed him wearing it, that the firm eventually released it to the public. The Pierre Arpels model has been updated several times since its original release, with features such as the honeycomb dial seen here, but it has always stayed true to the original intent and design of Pierre himself.
A notable feature on this piece is the slimness of the case. Pierre Arpels also utilized a single rod lug system, in order to give the illusion that the dial is floating on the wrist. The present lot exemplifies the firm's desire to create effortlessly timeless and sophisticated pieces, versatile for wear day or night.
