Vacheron Constantin Ref. 47650 Historiques Toledo 1952

An off catalog, rare and attractive white gold triple calendar wristwatch with moonphase indication with sapphire-set bezel and mother-pearl-dial. The reference 47650 is part of the Toledo 1952 heritage line, echoing the style of the original Cioccolatone watches from the early 1950s, known for their cushion-shaped cases and triple calendar with moonphase dial layout. Focusing on clean lines and biomorphic shapes, the brand created a new aesthetic with this large, organic, square-shaped wristwatch with rounded stepped lugs and bezel, along with the slightly curved case. This modern interpretation by Vacheron Constantin preserves this historical aesthetic with a completely fabulous attention to detail. The bezel is set with rarely seen blue sapphires, and the guilloché mother of pearl dial is also set with sapphires. To the best of our knowledge, the present watch is the only known in this configuration, making it an extremely exclusive timepiece. An off-catalog piece, one can imagine how exclusive the client was to be allocated the present timepiece. Research with the manufacture shows that less than five examples were produced in this bezel and dial configuration, underscoring the rarity of the present watch.
