Universal Geneve, Polerouter Ref. S20214-6 plated wristwatch 1950s Automatic movement argentè dial Case n. 1782157 Cal. 138SS (Bumper) Diam. mm 35 The Universal Geneve Polerouter, designed by the brilliant Gérald Genta in 1954 at just 23 years old, is an icon of watchmaking design. It was created to commemorate the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) flights on polar routes, exposed to strong magnetic fields. It is renowned for its minimalist and refined aesthetic, with its distinctive lyre lugs and the iconic inner ring (the railway track) framing the dial. Subsequently made famous by its revolutionary automatic Microtor movement (a miniaturized rotor that is not used on this model), the Polerouter is a piece of history that combines elegance with technical innovation.
