Swiss made in 1959, this example was manufactured specifically for the US market. Dial A rare and well-preserved example of the 20355-5 dial, featuring gold indices in very good condition with only light signs of age. The dial’s outer ring is silver-toned, giving the design striking contrast and depth. The central section has a distinctive concentric texture, adding further visual interest. The applied Universal Genève logo and printed text are correct for the reference and era. The dial includes the jewel count — a detail found on US-market watches — making it a particularly uncommon variant. The gold dauphine hands are original. Crown Original signed Universal Genève crown. Case Stainless steel case in good vintage condition with normal signs of wear. There is a small fracture in the bezel at the 5 o’clock marker, noted for transparency. The caseback shows wear, with marks suggesting an attempted opening using an incorrect tool. However, “Stainless Steel Swiss” remains visible above the serial number, and the inner caseback bears the correct UG stamp. Movement Fitted with the original Universal Genève Calibre 215-97 micro-rotor movement. Marked “17 Jewels” on the bridge with a US import stamp, but the dial correctly indicates “23 Jewels,” as this version includes six additional jewels for the US market — all consistent with this rare configuration. • Fully serviced in March 2023. • Microrotor replaced in 2024 by a specialist watchmaker recommended by the Polerouter Reference website. Strap Fitted with an unbranded vintage leather strap and original Universal Genève buckle. Box Comes with the original red Universal Genève presentation box (no cushion). Some wear to box as expected.
