Ulysse Nardin San Marco 433-77

Description

1993 Ulysse Nardin San Marco Chronograph

This Ulysse Nardin San Marco automatic chronograph is a genuinely rare watch, and should be seriously considered. Model reference 433-77. HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH? Ulysse Nardin models are normally hard to date accurately. However we have an Italian book from 1992/3 that shows this exact watch with a price of 3,890,000 Lire (about £1,750 back in 1993), and a production stamp on the chronograph section of the modular movement showing 08-93, so we are comfortable that this watch was made in 1993. For the same price you could have bought a steel Rolex Daytona, so this was never a cheap watch! A new Ulysse Nardin chronograph now starts at over £11,000. CONDITION The movement inside the stainless steel case is branded as a Ulysse Nardin 43-11, but this is actually a combination of an ETA 2982 automatic movement paired to a likely Lemania chronograph module. This will make future servicing easier, as it will not need to go back to Ulysse Nardin for a general service as parts are more readily available. As well as the chronograph, you also get a quick set date with date magnifier set into the dial and not the sapphire crystal. If that looks familiar it is because brands like Chopard and Audemars Piguet used the same module and had the same solution. The black dial is very good, but the lume in the hands has faded. We discuss potential solutions to this on the video. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and buckle. This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity. This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included. SIZE Width with crown 40.0 mm Width without crown 38.3 mm Between lugs 20 mm Lug to lug length 45.1 mm Case Thickness 11.4 mm All sizes are approximate. The watch is photographed on a wrist of 190mm/7.5 inches.
