Don't miss this opportunity to own an important part of Tudor's diving history. In extraordinary unpolished condition, this 1958 Tudor ref. 7922 was the first dive watch they ever produced. It features a beautifully aged dial with gilt closed chapter ring (where the minute marks are edged with a circle). It has the very early '100m = 330ft' depth rating, matching radium hands & its incredibly rare "red triangle" aluminium bezel insert; all of which are completely original. Inside the 39mm stainless steel case is Tudor's self-winding calibre 390, modified from Fleurier's automatic movement, waterproof to 100m. It also features the early small crown, "Tropic" Plexiglas crystal and rare butterfly winding rotor. With access to the technological know-how and the tooling of their senior sibling Rolex, Tudor watches were fitted with the best waterproof cases available. In this early model, the Tudor attestation is inscribed inside the case-back, while the outside simply has the serial and reference numbers. The model that followed (7924) had rather elaborate 'Rolex' engraving on the outside, proving how popular the collaboration had become. It's no surprise that when Tudor introduced the Heritage Black Bay in 2012 (ref. 79220R), it proudly bore the successor model number of this magnificent vintage watch. The Tudor "Oyster Prince" Submariner, model 7922 was only made between 1954 and early 1958, making this example one of the last ever made. It was followed directly by the ref. 7924 (200m), also in 1958. According to the Tudor official history, this 7922 also precedes the manual-wind model (7923) which was made in one reference only. In our 30 years of business, we have never had a Tudor Submariner like this one.
