No. 79280P is often considered one of the last classic vintage styles from the famed watchmaker before the dawn of the modern era for the brand. With a slimmed-down 40mm x 14mm 'Big Block' case, taking its styling cues from Tudor chronographs of yesteryear, the model is solidly built, robust, recognizable on the wrist and ready for anything with its 100m water resistance.
The 79280P features a stainless steel bezel with a tachymeter. In addition, the 79280P uses polished lugs, once again different from the widely produced 79280 and its standard use of ground lugs. The wider reference 79000 family is a broad group of watches, and the 79280P is one of the less common designs within it.
On the dial, the vertical chronograph configuration is the main feature of the design, and the style once again draws on the previous historical styles established by the brand in previous "Big Block" models. A Cyclops window above the date places the watch firmly in the Tudor/Rolex lineage, as do a pair of baton-shaped hands that provide running time in addition to the design's chronograph capabilities.
It is worth noting that some variants of the 79280P model were created in partnership with former brand ambassador Tiger Woods, so they had an additional small inscription "Tiger" on the dial, which indicates exactly that. Tiger or not, each 79280P is powered by the self-winding ETA 7750, formerly known as the Valjoux 7750, one of the most popular chronograph calibers of the last century, capable of a 42-hour power reserve.
The watch is from 1998. Sold with certificate, without box. Service performed in August 2025.
