Tudor Oyster 4463

Description

SUPER RARE VINTAGE 1940s ROLEX TUDOR OYSTER LONDON SMALL ROSE 4463 34MM MANUAL

Up for sale is Rolex’s own very rare Tudor Oyster London! This rare timepiece from the 1940s features a 34mm stainless steel case with a beautiful original rose & shield logo. The manual wind mechanical movement ensures accurate timekeeping. Case: 34mm (37.3 with crown) Lug to lug: 42mm Lug width: 18mm Thickness: 12.4mm Crystal: Plexiglass Dial: Silver/Beige (patina) Indexes: Gold (14K?) Hands: Gold (18K?) Band: single aftermarket (leather, bracelet, bund, etc.) Reason why this Tudor is very rare is because during the time Rolex is trying to market Tudor Oyster as a “worker’s timepiece”. Though Tudor Oyster is being sold everywhere…Rolex, under Hans Wilsdorf guidance in marketing; strategically sell “special” Tudor Oyster in specific area throughout England to stir up conversation for the local commonwealth (London, Sussex, York, Devon, etc.). Think of it as representing your favorite local sports team but with city/township. This specific watch in particular is different; unlike other local Oyster London (or any other cities; I challenge you to find one!) you see they all have radium (on hands, indexes or both)…this watch’s indexes and hands are in gold! The down side is, you can’t tell your time in the darkest of night; but then again some brand (Grand Seiko) made it that way… What you give up for pitch black visibility; you gain in elegance and style. Another plus is that you can wear this watch as long & often as you like without worrying about being exposed to radium (bless you Radium Girls; you were gone too soon…) This is a manual wind and not an automatic (Oyster Prince) which some people preferred. However there are 2 positive points I will bring to light: 1. Tudor manual wind version will always be thinner so it will conformed to your wrist better. Understand this is still a “worker’s watch” unlike Oysterthin’s 6mm thickness case. 2. Older automatic movements like Fleurier are much harder to service/repair these days since they no longer supply replacement parts as well as even after it’s serviced you might find yourself not being active enough to keep the power going & end up manually winding it anyway…I say this because I wear my Tudor Prince daily & I find myself in this situation at least once a month… I am positive this watch is a true collectors' item, with a reference number of 4463 and a classic design that will never go out of style. Perfect for any man's collection, this wristwatch is sure to impress. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of history!
