Tissot Seastar Navigator Panda Dial Vintage Chronograph

I am selling my Tissot Seastar chronograph. This watch dates back to the mid 1970s and as you can see is It's in fantastic condition. This is the panda dial configuration you don't see quite so often. I have owned a couple of these Seastar chronographs previously in their various colour guises and this is by far in the best condition of the lot. These usually suffered from worn bezels but this one is still pretty crisp and the factory brushing on the case looks incredible. In fact it's been a while since I have seen a vintage case maintaining such sharp original lines. The contrast from the satin brushed case top finish to the polished sides still looks super sharp. The dial and hand as also in wonderful condition and the lume still has life left in it. Any little marks you can see are probably on the plexi crystal which has a few minor scratches as you would expect. The faint horizontal lines you might be able to see on the bottom half of the dial in the first photo in the gallery are reflections and not on the dial. This houses a manually wound Valjoux 7734 movement. It winds smoothly from the crown and from 10 winds the watch will give me about 12-15 hours of power reserve. I'm always conservative with the amount of winds I give to a vintage manually wound watch as I don't want to run the risk over over winding. The chronograph starts, stops and resets both hands back to their vertical zero positions. The chronographs runs smoothly through the full 30mins. I do not have the correct tool to open the caseback, however having owned various watches housing a 7734 movement this behaves exactly the same, even down to the slight wind back on the crown when you complete a wind up turn. The date change on the 7734 is done via winding the hour hand past 24 hours then back to 10 and forward past midnight until the date changes. This is a semi quickset method but with most vintage watches i choose to leave the date as it is to avoid movement wear. The watch is on a generic racing style strap. Overall this is a wonderful example of a very cool watch back when Tissot were on top of their game. Whilst this watch will leave me running and functioning as it should it would always be wise to factor in a potential service with any vintage watch.Tissot Seastar Navigator Panda Dial Vintage Chronograph $ 1,697 Basic Info Listing code IMSQQ2 Brand Tissot Model Seastar Reference number 40522 Movement Manual winding Case material Steel Bracelet material Leather Year of production 1975 (Approximation) Condition Good (Light signs of wear or scratches) Scope of delivery No original box, no original papers Gender Men's watch/Unisex Location United Kingdom, Oxfordshire Price £1,299 (= $1,697) [Negotiable] Availability Item is in stock Caliber Movement Manual winding Base caliber Valjoux 7734 Case Case material Steel Case diameter 40 mm Try it on Crystal Plexiglass Dial White Dial numerals No numerals Bracelet/strap Bracelet material Leather Clasp Buckle Clasp material Steel Functions Chronograph, Date Other Small seconds, Luminous indices I am selling my Tissot Seastar chronograph.
