Description:
This vintage Tissot Seastar Navigator dates from around 1969, confirmed by its serial number (16,174,798). The watch features a solid stainless-steel cushion case measuring approximately 40 mm across (43 mm lug-to-lug). The dial is silver sunburst with applied baton hour markers and tritium lume plots that have aged evenly to a warm tone. The original bi-compax chronograph layout includes a running-seconds register at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, accented by a blue sector segment for legibility.
A tachymeter scale encircles the outer chapter ring, giving the watch its racing-instrument aesthetic. The original T-logo hands are intact, with the chronograph sweep hand in red for contrast. The date window sits cleanly at 6 o’clock. The acrylic crystal shows minor signs of age but retains excellent clarity.
The movement, visible in the photos, is the correct Tissot-signed Valjoux 7733, a robust Swiss cam-lever chronograph calibre operating at 18,000 vph with approximately 45 hours of power reserve. It runs, resets and functions correctly. The bridges and screws show no corrosion or damage, confirming an honest and well-preserved example.
The case retains its original profile with minor wear consistent with age. The black tachymeter bezel remains legible. It is fitted with a new tan perforated leather rally strap (aftermarket, unworn) that complements the vintage motorsport design perfectly.

All components appear original, including the signed crown and pushers. The new strap makes it ready for immediate wear.
Provenance & Collectability
The Valjoux 7733 movement was used by Heuer, Hamilton, and Breitling during the same period, making the Seastar Navigator a high-value entry into classic Swiss chronographs. Tissot’s 1960s–70s chronographs are increasingly recognised for their build quality and direct link to Lemania’s chronograph expertise. The silver-dial variant with blue sub-register accent is especially sought after.
