Jeremy Evans, Jonathan Carter & Ben Wright, Thomas Tompion 300 Years, 2013, p. 584, This watch can be dated to circa 1698 and, although relatively plain, is typical of the high standard of Tompion’s work. The movement is numbered three times, once to the edge of the backplate and again beneath the balance and under the dial to the movement’s top plate. The cock and large three-arm balance are typical of Tompion’s work at this period. It is interesting to note the early stirrup bow and pendant and the bezel of the outer case, with its inner chamfer, is typical of the period.
