18K yellow gold pocket watch stamped “T.F. Cooper 19 Calthorpe Street Grays Inn Road London” on the mechanism. The front cover is deeply engraved with allegorical imagery adapted from the Great Seal of the State of California. At center, the Roman goddess Minerva is shown seated with a spear beside a U.S. shield, symbolizing wisdom and national unity. An eagle rises at her shoulder, while sailing ships, farmland, and a coastal townscape in the background celebrate California’s maritime and agricultural heritage.
