TAG Heuer Autavia 1163

Description

Tag Heuer Autavia 1163

One of several legendary motor-racing chronographs from Heuer—before it became TAG Heuer— the Autavia stands with the Monaco and the Carrera as one of the brand’s best-known models. This version, with its reverse “panda” dial, boasts red accents with a date window at 6 o’clock and is referred to by collectors as the “Viceroy” as watches with this particular dial style were included in a newspaper promotion run by the Viceroy brand of cigarettes. It was also the official watch of the Parnelli Jones Viceroy Racing Team of the early 1970s. It’s powered by the Caliber 12, also found in vintage Monaco and Carrera models where the crown sits on the left side of the case. This watch has some minor age-related wear and tear, but this adds to its charm. This Tag Heuer Autavia 1163 has a black dial and a leather strap. Due to age, this Tag Heuer may not fall within our typical expected tolerances for timekeeping, and is no longer suitable for use in wet environments or submersion in water. In the interests of preserving original features, utmost care has been taken to sympathetically restore this watch. It has also been referenced against technical documents and manufacturer records where available to ensure authenticity and a clean history.
