The ezm1, the first of Zinn's professional mission timers, was developed for the Special Forces (zuz) of the Central Support Group of the Customs Department. zuz wanted a chronograph that was as rugged as a precision instrument and had instantaneous visibility to keep track of time. The user, the experts in the unit, the Zinn engineers, and the top watchmakers worked in close cooperation with each other to complete this model.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Mission Timer, the ezm1.1 is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and carries on the genes of the ezm1. The most distinctive feature of the ezm1.1 is its central 60-minute counter and the elimination of the perpetual seconds hand and 12-hour counter normally found in chronographs. The chronograph has no small dial and is styled to focus on the chronograph functions for measuring time, especially seconds and minutes, which are important in a mission timer. The absence of a small dial does not reduce the visibility of the hour and minute totalizers. For greater legibility, all indications except hands, indices, and numerals are discreetly displayed in red. The watch is also extremely durable thanks to numerous Zinn technologies, including stable accuracy in temperatures from -45 to +80, Ar Dry technology to prevent fogging of the windshield, and Tegimento processing to prevent scratches.
