The 1965 Diver’s watch marked the initiation of Seiko's venture into diving timepieces, symbolizing the brand's enduring dedication to crafting resilient watches. Notably reliable, the original model was presented four times to Japanese Antarctic Research Expeditions and accompanied explorations to the North and South poles, as well as Mount Everest. The Marinemaster, tailored for professional divers, featured a robust case and a sturdy strap. This contemporary iteration incorporates elements from the 1965 original diver, such as its silhouette and distinctive hour markers. The dial, adorned with a horizontal line pattern, exudes a marine-sports aesthetic, and the sapphire exhibition case back is a novel addition to Seiko Diver watches. Mirrored-finish lugs enhance light reflection, and the thick Lumibrite-coated hour markers ensure high legibility. Despite the inclusion of box sapphire glass and the exhibition case back, this is the slimmest among Seiko mechanical divers watches at just 12.3mm.
